Revision Paper - Final

For your final essay, due on May 12 at noon via Moodle only, you are required to do an extensive re-write of essay 1 or 2. You can choose which one you want to revise. It's a completely new grade (does not replace the original grade) so pick whichever you feel inclined to revise. 

 Your revisions must be at least two pages worth. These can be extended pages (new additions) or they can be revisions of what is already there, depending on whether or not there were any problems with the initial draft.

You will be expected to incorporate at least one more outside research source (in addition to your original ones) and to make revisions according to the suggestions I gave you when I graded the essay. Please review my Moodle comments. 

Please make sure that if you were under the page count minimum with the original draft, you meet the minimum. Failure to do so will result in a grade of 0 for the final assignment-no exceptions.

 Go back and revisit the initial instructions for the paper before beginning.

 Add in detail where it is lacking, correct grammar, strengthen your analysis, and re-work organization. If your MLA formatting and quote incorporation is wacky, you need to fix it. 

You can also visit me during office hours to discuss your work, should you need additional input. Please keep in mind I am not on campus during finals week (although we can meet on Skype), so you should set up these appointments ASAP.

 Your paper should be submitted in ONE document that includes both the original final draft of the paper, clearly marked/labeled as the original AND your revised version. 

All revisions in the revised paper should have yellow or pink highlighting  on anything you changed, so that I can see where you revised. It is expected that you will provide at least two full pages worth of revision to the original, if not more.

If the changes made are not substantial, you will not receive a passing score. Should you have already gotten a high score on your paper initially, I recommend expanding your thesis and lengthening your paper by two pages, including more topics or more research and expansion to your current topics. 

Please note that I tried to be very specific about what you should do for revision in my notes to you, so do follow my guidelines. Each person in class has a slightly different task ahead, so your peers may be revising different aspects of their essays than you. Keep this in mind and keep your eyes on the prize.

Annihilation

The ANTHROPOCENE is an unofficial, debated term between geologists and environmentalists that describes the epoch (time period) we are living in. It assumes that we have moved out of the Holocene (the epoch that began 11,700 years ago after the last Ice Age) and into a new epoch where humankind has caused significant changes to the environment, such as  mass extinctions of plant and animal species, polluting the oceans and altering the atmosphere, among other lasting impacts. 1) Discuss how the characters understanding of the tower/tunnel changes over time. What might be significant about the fact that the biologist is the only one who can see the Tower's true nature?
